Gucci fragrances are grouped into four main families: Flora Gorgeous, Guilty, Bloom and Bamboo. Each one comes in several concentrations and sizes, which is exactly where confusion tends to creep in when buying. This page is here to help you find your way.

The four Flora Gorgeous fragrances: how to choose

Flora Gorgeous is the widest and most misunderstood collection, since the four versions have almost identical names. The rule is simple: each version is named after the flower that defines it.

• Flora Gorgeous Gardenia — the most floral and sweet of the four, built around gardenia. It's the bestseller and the one to start with if you don't know the collection yet.
• Flora Gorgeous Jasmine — jasmine makes it more intense and more of an evening scent than Gardenia.
• Flora Gorgeous Orchid — orchid brings a warmer, more vanilla-tinged note. It's the most enveloping version, best suited to autumn and winter.
• Flora Gorgeous Magnolia — magnolia gives it a fresher, brighter signature, the most fitting for the warm season.

Each version also comes as an Eau de Parfum Intense, which isn't a different fragrance but the same one in a higher concentration: it lasts longer and needs fewer sprays. Flora Gorgeous Orchid in 100 ml also comes in a refillable version: the bottle is topped up instead of being bought new each time. The refill is a separate product and isn't currently in our catalogue.

Guilty: the line with the most versions

Guilty comes in both a women's and a men's version, each in several concentrations. In practice:

• Guilty pour Femme — floral with a fruity, spicy opening. Available in Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum and Eau de Parfum Intense.
• Guilty pour Homme — a citrusy, aromatic structure over a woody base. Available in EDT, Eau de Parfum, Parfum and the Cologne version, the lightest of them all.
• Guilty Absolute — the darkest, most woody take on the line, both pour Homme and pour Femme. It's not "a stronger Guilty": it's a fragrance with a different character altogether.

If you already know Guilty and simply want more longevity, go for the Intense. If you're after something different, go for the Absolute.

Bloom and Bamboo

Gucci Bloom is built around white flowers, with tuberose and jasmine sambac taking centre stage. It's a recognisable, full-bodied fragrance that doesn't go unnoticed. The Ambrosia di Fiori version is its most intense, velvety interpretation.

Gucci Bamboo is more composed and understated: a citrus opening, a floral heart, and a warm sandalwood and vanilla base. It's the most versatile choice in the Gucci range, suited to everyday wear and the office.

EDT, EDP, Intense and Parfum: how long they last

The initials on the bottle indicate the percentage of essential oils, meaning how long the fragrance lasts on the skin.

• Eau de Toilette (EDT) — 4-10% oils. Lasts 2-4 hours. Suited to the warm season and everyday wear.
• Eau de Parfum (EDP) — 10-15% oils. Lasts 3-6 hours. It's the best balance between longevity and price, and the bestselling concentration.
• EDP Intense — a higher concentration than the Eau de Parfum of the same fragrance. Same olfactory signature, longer lasting.
• Parfum — the highest concentration. A few drops are enough, and it lasts through to the end of the day.

For the same fragrance, an EDP costs on average 25-35% more than an EDT of the same size, but lasts roughly twice as long.

Which size is worth it

Gucci fragrances are generally available in three sizes: 30 ml, 50 ml and 90-100 ml. The 30 ml is the right size for trying a fragrance you don't know yet or for keeping in your bag. The 100 ml almost always has the lowest price per millilitre, but should only be chosen for a fragrance you already trust: an opened perfume keeps its qualities for around three years.
